Chilean Drought Observatory

Reducing vulnerability to droughts and other agriculture-climate events with relevant, rapid response information for early warning purposes is the key goal of an Agroclimatic Observatory. Such a system allows decision makers and stakeholders to access reliable and up-to-date information on meteorological, hydrological, and agricultural conditions, and provides a historical reference of drought vulnerability as well as forecasts for coming seasons. G-WADI in collaboration with many other institutions helped develop the Chilean Drought Observatory, which can be accessed at http://www.climatedatalibrary.cl/UNEA/maproom/ .

The observatory has sections on El Niño, La Niña and the Southern Oscillation; Drought Monitor; Historical Drought Frequencies; Vulnerability Atlas; Forecsts and Alerts.
