G-WADI (CHRS) Data Downloads and Users through 2024

Data downloads of the PERSIANN family of products continue increasing markedly from year to year. Developed by and housed at the Center for Hydrometeorology and Remote Sensing (CHRS) at the University of California Irvine, these products include both historical and real-time satellite-based precipitation estimation products. These products have been associated with G-WADI since its foundation, and partially funded by both UNESCO-IHP and ICIWaRM

Data downloads for 2024 totaled 46 terabytes--the most ever for the combined products. The number of users totaled 158,000 for the year--also a record for the site.  analysis. 

Visits to the data portal to directly download data are also flourishing. Over 2.4 million requests have now been serviced via the portal in the nine years of its existence,  from 194 states from all six IHP national groups that have downloaded data. On any given day, around 40 states download data for operational use.
